About the Companion Animal Fund

The mission of the Companion Animal Fund (CAF) is to support the well-being of animals in our community through targeted efforts such as feral cat Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs and a pet food bank for dogs and cats, providing essential food through local charities and food banks. Our direct impact focuses on helping pets in need at the local level. CAF operates as a non-profit with all administrative costs covered by external sources, ensuring 100% of donations go directly to supporting animals.

All donations received by CAF are sent to the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation, which is a non-profit 501 C (3) Corporation that invests the money, handles, and files all tax and business reports for CAF and many other local non-profit groups. The Charlottesville Area Community Foundation is a multi-million dollar fund that is well-trained in investing for non-profits (Please see their website at www.cacfonline.org).

The board of the Companion Animal Fund is a group of superheroes that organizes events, arranges services for animals in need, and answers the call of local rescue organizations in need. Their tireless work helps thousands of pets live happier, healthier lives. We are always seeking passionate volunteers to help reach out to your community! If you would like to become a board member or volunteer and work with the CAF, please visit our Contact Page, or email us at companionanimalfundva@gmail.com.
